Over the last decade, Lebanon has witnessed a 10% increase in obesity rates is now ranked as the 6th among Middle Eastern countries in terms of prevalence of obesity.
Accordingly, and in an effort to shed light on the nature of obesity, its associated risk factors, and available treatments, Phoenicia University welcomed a team of experts from AUBMC to spread awareness to the PU community regarding these matters on Tuesday, October 8, 2019.
Each of the specialists delivered a presentation tackling obesity from a particular aspect, including medical, psychological, and nutritional ones.
It is essential to keep in mind that a number of factors can contribute to having obesity, such as heredity, sleep deprivation and sleep apnea, as well as using certain drugs and medication. In order to prevent and treat obesity, individuals ought to consult their dietitians, therapists, and medical doctors to better pinpoint the leading risk factors and devise an appropriate plan for treatment.
After the presentation, our visitors engaged PU students with interactive and fun activities relating to the topic.
