Forensic Psychology Between the Mind and Crime: An Interdisciplinary Dialogue at Phoenicia University

Phoenicia University’s Law Society organized a free educational session titled “Forensic Psychology: Between the Mind and Crime – A Psychological and Legal Approach,” open to students, faculty, staff, and members of the wider community. The event provided an opportunity to explore the relationship between psychology and law and deepen public understanding of the factors that influence criminal behavior.

The session featured Lawyer Kamel Safa and forensic psychologist Ghena Ismail, who examined the psychological motives underlying criminal behavior and the legal system’s responses to offenders with mental disorders. Hosted by law student Zainab Al Ashkar, the discussion explored the intersection of psychological assessment, criminal responsibility, and legal proceedings.

Through real-life scenarios and interdisciplinary discussion, the session highlighted the importance of considering both psychological and legal perspectives when examining criminal behavior and responsibility. By making this educational event accessible to the public, Phoenicia University supported community awareness, knowledge sharing, and lifelong learning on issues relevant to mental health, criminal justice, and society.
