Interview with Dr. Mohamed Abo Haidar on Consumer Rights and Economic Development
On May 3, 2023, Phoenicia University (PU) hosted an interview with Dr. Mohamed Abo Haidar, Director General of the Lebanese Ministry of Economy and Trade, to discuss consumer rights protection and key economic developments in Lebanon. The session was organized as part of the University's efforts to connect students and the wider community with public sector leaders and promote awareness of national economic issues.
During the interview, Dr. Abo Haidar emphasized the importance of protecting consumers, products, and intellectual property while highlighting the Ministry's role in safeguarding market integrity and ensuring fair commercial practices. He also discussed the government's measures to regulate pricing in U.S. dollars and enhance transparency within the Lebanese market.
In addition, Dr. Abo Haidar shared the Ministry's vision for accelerating digital transformation by converting government paperwork and public services into digital formats, with the aim of improving efficiency, accessibility, and service delivery.
The session provided participants with valuable insights into Lebanon's economic landscape, consumer protection policies, and public sector reform initiatives. It also fostered dialogue between students, faculty, and a senior government official, contributing to a deeper understanding of contemporary economic challenges and opportunities.
